A Contradictory Finale
Today we can expect a rather unusual race - for the first time since 2022, Marco Odermatt could miss out on the "small crystal globe" in giant slalom. Over the previous four years, the Swiss skier won the World Cup in this discipline early and, as a rule, by a considerable margin. He first won the "small crystal globe" in giant slalom in March 2022, when his lead over his nearest rival was 267 points. A year ago, Marco secured victory in this discipline before the Finals, eventually finishing 432 points ahead of Henrik Kristoffersen. If Marco wins the "small crystal globe" in giant slalom again this year, it will be his fifth trophy in the discipline.
But it appears that his complete dominance is coming to an end. Before the race, he leads Lucas Pinheiro Braathen by 48 points, while Loïc Meillard could also claim the "globe" if circumstances go his way - the Swiss skier is 89 points behind his teammate. The battle should therefore be very interesting and closely contested.

Two days ago, Marco Odermatt finished outside the points for the first time in a long while in the super-G. He finished 19th and was very disappointed. Although this did not affect the fact that he once again finished the season as the best skier, securing three "globes" early - in the overall standings and both speed disciplines. After the race, Marco said that he had not felt motivated and was very tired by the end of the season. We will find out very soon whether anything changes today.
The men's World Cup last took place in Hafjell a year ago. Loïc Meillard won the giant slalom, Marco Odermatt finished second and Thomas Tumler was third.
