Marco Odermatt to miss Chile camp start with muscle injury

Men's World Cup leader Marco Odermatt has suffered a minor muscle injury and will miss the start of the Swiss team's training camp. Swiss-Ski said the alpine skier will be unable to fly to Chile on Monday for preparations.
"The main focus is currently on therapy and rehabilitation. As soon as on-snow training resumes, further preparations for the season will be reviewed," Swiss-Ski said in a press release.
However, the situation is not yet fully clear. On 31 August, only a group of giant slalom specialists will travel to South America, and Odermatt usually trains with them. The speed-event skiers will fly to Chile a week later.
According to Blick, Marco still has a realistic chance of recovering and joining the team on 7 September. If so, he will be able to take part in training and spend another three weeks in South America - enough time, it is hoped, to reach optimal form for the first World Cup race of the new season.
The opening event will take place on 25 October in Sölden (Austria). Photo: footage from SRF Sport. 21:06 30.08.26
