Snow is the first thing reviewers praise: Powder King takes around twelve and a half metres a season, the most of any Canadian resort. Hardly anyone is there, so untracked lines can still be found days after a storm. The tree skiing and the friendly locals get good mentions, and the atmosphere is described as entirely uncommercial.
Lifts and terrain draw the criticism: there are only three, just one of them a chair and a painfully slow one, while the area is wide, so a lot of the day goes on traverses between sectors. Nothing in bounds counts as genuinely steep, and experts run out of interest fast. There is nothing to do beyond skiing, and there is no mobile signal or wifi at all. Prices are called among the highest in the country and the accommodation thin and poor value. The Pine Pass road needs chains in winter and closes at times for avalanche control.
