Winterberg (Skiliftkarussell)

This ski resort is in a class of its own. Ultra-modern chairlifts, T-bars and magic carpets transport skiers to 34 pistes in the area. The diverse ski area covers 7 interconnected mountains and offers two dedicated toboggan lifts. A high-performance snowmaking system guarantees snow on 28 pistes. Fourteen pistes are equipped with floodlights, allowing night skiing and evening skiing on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Nine snow cannons operate at night so that you wake up to perfect conditions in the morning. After a full day on the slopes, enjoy a meal in one of the resort's comfortable traditional huts. The ski season here starts in mid-December, depending on weather conditions, and usually ends around mid-March.

Worth knowing

The Skiliftkarussell slopes were significantly expanded in the 2012/2013 season, with an extension towards Suerenberg (3 new pistes) and a connection to Kappe. Very attractive and varied slopes, including a steep 500 m piste, can now be reached via a new piste almost 1 km long, which leads from Bremberg across the main road towards Kappe. Bremberg, now accessible via three six-seater chairlifts and two T-bars, offers a range of longer pistes. The pistes on Poppenberg have an ideal profile for fast turns, while the Herrloh slopes are dominated by very gentle terrain.

Connection information

Sahne and Winterhang Nordhang (North Slope) are not directly connected to the Skiliftkarussell.

80% of the slopes can be artificially snow-covered.

The slopes include a descent to the valley.

Longest piste

The longest descent here is Bremberg-Büre, measuring 1.6 km, with a vertical drop of 169 m.

Most challenging pistes

The most challenging is the Slalom piste, measuring 0.5 km, with a vertical drop of 170 m. With a gradient of up to 50%, it is one of the few pistes in Sauerland where even experienced skiers will feel a sense of fear before the descent.

St. Georg ski jump piste. Length: 0.2 km. Vertical drop: 72 m. In fact, these are two parallel pistes - one short and one challenging.

Night skiing

The ski resort offers night skiing.

No other German ski resort has as many chairlifts or as many detachable chairlifts as Winterberg Skiliftkarussell. Some lifts are equipped with conveyor-belt loading systems, but they do not have heated seats or weather protection, which would be useful on some days because of the Atlantic climate. In the central area between Remmeswiese and Bremberg, you can ski all day without using a lift every time.
