What visitors say about the resort
Snow is what reviewers praise: about twelve metres a season, with powder described as light and dry, close to Hokkaido quality. They value the long uninterrupted descents and the spread across ability levels. The ski-in hotels are a separate plus - the InterContinental and the ANA Crowne Plaza, with both indoor and open-air onsen. Crowds are nothing like Niseko or Hakuba: there are no brutal lift lines and two gondolas move you from base to summit quickly. Children under twelve skied free with an adult.
Having nothing to do in the evening is the standard complaint: nightlife barely exists. Getting there takes more effort than reaching the well-known Nagano resorts. The lift fleet is mixed and the older open chairs attract grumbles about waiting times and dated hardware, while midweek some lifts do not run at all. The food court shuts around 4 or 5 pm and there is little else nearby.
