Bad Gastein/Bad Hofgastein - Schlossalm/Angertal/Stubnerkogel

The Gastein valley was a resort long before skiing: people came for the radon waters from the nineteenth century, and Bad Gastein is built in belle époque tiers around a waterfall that drops through the middle of town. The ski area runs from the Stubnerkogel through the Angertal to the Schlossalm above Bad Hofgastein, and the main descent, "The Nord" from the Hohe Scharte, adds up to ten kilometres. A hundred-and-forty-metre suspension bridge spans the Stubnerkogel ridge - people cross it on foot in ski boots. The aspects are arranged so that a sunny slope can be found at any hour.
