What visitors say about the resort
Bad Gastein is praised for combining skiing with thermal baths: after a day on the slopes, you can visit hot springs right in town. Visitors highlight more than 200 km of skiing in the valley on one lift pass, along with Belle Époque architecture unlike that of a typical Alpine village.
Criticisms include sectors spread throughout the valley, with trains and buses running between them, so a day can be lost travelling without careful planning. Visitors also complain about abandoned hotels in the centre that spoil the impression, and queues at Schlossalmbahn on weekends.
