Bláfjöll

Bláfjöll resort is located 30 km from Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, and is the largest ski resort in Iceland. The winter sports resort is also open for night skiing, making it very popular with locals. Bláfjöll offers easy and intermediate pistes accessible by chairlifts. From the Kóngsgil mountain station, you can enjoy magnificent views of the volcanic landscape and ocean.

Bláfjöll ski resort offers easy and intermediate pistes that extend across treeless slopes between Kóngsgil and Suôurgil. Most of the slopes are wide and well-groomed. Very easy, wide slopes are located near the car parks.

Good to know

There is no snowmaking at the resort.

There is a valley run from the slopes. All slopes lead to the base station in Bláfjöll.

Longest piste

Kóngsgil-Bláfjöll. Length: 2.5 km. Vertical drop: 240 m.

Most difficult piste

Drottningin is the most difficult piste, with a length of 0.7 km and a vertical drop of 200 m.

There is no halfpipe.

Night skiing

The ski resort offers night skiing.

Bláfjöll ski resort is equipped with a detachable high-speed four-seat lift, which is the main lift. This lift was formerly a Télémix combination lift with a four-seat chairlift and a four-seat gondola, but the gondola is no longer used because of strong winds and icing. There are also two double chairlifts. The remaining lifts at Bláfjöll ski resort are tow lifts.
