What visitors say about the resort
The praise is for skiing that mostly runs through forest: flat light and wind are workable here and the lifts rarely close. Visitors note the scenery and the historic town of Kalavryta next door, slopes that suit beginners and intermediates, and some off-piste. Many speak warmly of the workers who look after the cover, and pin hopes on the new, young management that has set about putting the centre in order.
The lifts draw the criticism: old and slow, with a two-seater as the main line, so on busy days the wait runs to twenty or twenty-five minutes and the advice is to arrive before ten. On occasion two lifts stood broken at once and the intermediate runs were shut. Snowmaking is limited and grooming happens during skiing hours, so the pistes ice up by midday. Complaints also cover brusque staff, paper tickets and full-price charging when only a fraction of the terrain is open.
