Aleksander Aamodt Kilde Suffered a Torn Achilles Tendon at Training Camp in Chile

Norwegian alpine skier Alexander Aamodt Kilde has suffered a serious injury at a training camp in Chile. According to the Norwegian Ski Association’s press office, the athlete was injured during a downhill training session held on Wednesday.
The fall resulted in a ruptured Achilles tendon. Alexander is now travelling home to Innsbruck. There, he will undergo further medical examinations, after which he and his team of doctors will discuss possible treatment options. The association noted that further information would be released as new details become available.
Last season, Kilde competed in nine World Cup races. The Norwegian was attempting to return to his previous form after a dramatic fall in Wengen in January 2024 and the serious injuries he sustained at the time.
At the World Cup event in Crans-Montana in early February this year, Alex finished 42nd in the downhill. After that, he decided to end his season early and withdraw from the Olympics in Italy in order to prepare better and devote more time to training.
In September, the athlete resumed snow training in South America and intended to compete this season. However, the new injury has once again cast doubt on his sporting plans. Serious sporting activity after an Achilles tendon rupture is usually permitted six months after the injury.
