Weather at Ski China Peak

Weather at Ski China Peak: a six-day forecast for three elevations of the mountain. Temperature, precipitation, wind and cloud cover from MET Norway. Updated several times a day.

What the weather at Ski China Peak is usually like

The ski area runs from 2,143 to 2,655 m above sea level - a 512 m vertical. In January the daytime average is 5 °C at the base and 2 °C at the summit. Plan for that 3 °C gap: what feels right at the base will be cold up top. Midwinter days at the base run above freezing, so the lower runs soften by midday and the morning snow lasts longer higher up.

Average daytime highs stay above freezing even at the summit all year, so the season here rests entirely on night frosts and snowmaking. Last season brought 709 cm of snow here. The snowiest month was January: 157 cm over 6 days with snowfall. The snowpack was deepest in March, at roughly 156 cm. These are observations from a single season, not a long-term norm: a snowy year here can be twice a lean one.

By January the base is around 5 °C while the summit still holds 2 °C: on days like that, start early and stay high. Based on monthly averages and the resort elevations. For the coming days, see the forecast above.
