The Snow Arena in Druskininkai opened in 2011 and remains the only indoor ski complex in Lithuania. Nearly six hundred metres of piste lie inside, and it works all year round, July included. There is a separate snow park and a large learning area with carpets. When the weather allows, an outdoor slope of 640 metres opens as well. Helmets are compulsory throughout the complex, restaurants excepted.

What visitors say about the resort
The big draw is skiing on any day of the year regardless of the weather: the snow in the hall is clean, the slope is rarely crowded and the lifts run reliably. Visitors value the full rental service, which hands out jackets and gloves as well, so you can arrive with nothing at all, and the ski school on site. As a first introduction to snow or as summer training the arena is considered a good bet.
Where it falls down is with anyone who can already ski: boredom sets in within a couple of hours. Time is sold by the hour, but each descent is short, so as reviewers put it you pay for the wait at the lift rather than for the skiing, with Polish hills that sell a number of lift rides held up as the fairer deal. Waits for equipment, sullen staff and thin service, opening hours that do not match the advertised ones and nobody supervising the slope all come up. The outdoor winter run is often icy.
