Stoneham sits twenty minutes from Quebec City in a natural amphitheatre of three peaks that shelters the slopes from the wind - no small advantage at these latitudes. More than half the terrain is black, though the vertical is modest. Its distinguishing feature is night skiing: most of the area is floodlit and the lifts run late, so city people come out after work. The 2013 Snowboard World Championships were held here, and the parks have stayed among Canada's best ever since.

Night skiing is what reviewers praise most: there are more floodlit trails here than anywhere else in Canada, and the resort's reputation rests on them, backed by a lively bar scene afterwards. Tickets are considered cheap, especially on promotion or as half-days, the snow is described as soft with far less ice than other eastern hills, and midweek days pass with no lift or cafeteria lines twenty minutes from Quebec City.
The lift fleet draws criticism: one high-speed lift, a slow quad to the second face, a T-bar to the third and a double that is not always running, which grates at these prices. Weekends bring queues. The green grading is inconsistent, flat to the point of uphill run-outs and then suddenly steep, while the nursery slope and the one above it are too steep for true first-timers. On-site apres-ski is minimal and glade signage is confusing.
