The parks are what this resort is praised for, and snowboarders come specifically for them. Reviewers note the powerful snowmaking, patient instructors, a comfortable lodge with a fireplace and sanely priced food, and the closeness to Los Angeles that makes a day trip realistic. On sunny weekends the base sundeck is described as a beach party, with music and a crowd watching riders.
Snow quality is the first thing criticised: the cover is almost entirely man-made and stays hard for much of the season, in places simply icy. Crowding is the second, with the area called small and lines building everywhere. Upper lots fill by about 7:30am at weekends, parking is paid and reservation-only, and a fee is charged even to season pass holders. The day ticket is seen as expensive, especially for strong skiers with little terrain at their level, and older chairs do not slow down for loading.
