Accessibility is the main selling point in reviews: 30 to 45 minutes from Geneva and Thonon-les-Bains makes it a practical weekend option. The slopes are gentle and well groomed, some running through trees and some across open ground, which suits beginners, children and cautious intermediates. Beyond the alpine runs there is the Hirmentaz-Les Mouilles nordic area, marked snowshoe routes and biathlon. Prices are low and the atmosphere is described as cosy and intimate.
The low altitude is the obvious weakness - snow here is far from guaranteed. The chairs and pommas are plainly dated, though some visitors feel that adds to the character. Strong skiers say a couple of days is enough before boredom sets in. Service also draws complaints: one recent review reports the restaurant shutting down service by two in the afternoon, with long waits at busy times.
