La Dôle/Les Tuffes (Jura sur Léman)
1 / 5La Dôle and Les Tuffes on the French-Swiss border: views over Lake Geneva to Mont Blanc, gentle wooded skiing and a large cross-country network.
Trail information
The area runs along the Jura ridge right on the French-Swiss border and joins two massifs - La Dôle on the Swiss side and Les Tuffes on the French side above Les Rousses. From the summit of La Dôle the whole of Lake Geneva opens up, with the wall of the Alps and Mont Blanc behind it.
The skiing is gentle and wooded, suited to beginners and families; there is no classic snowpark, but Les Tuffes has a boardercross on natural terrain and a family fun run with features. The weak point is snow: artificial cover reaches only about a tenth of the pistes, so in mild winters the area depends heavily on the weather. One of France's largest cross-country networks lies alongside.

What visitors say about the resort
The view earns the strongest praise: from the summit of La Dole you look out over Lake Geneva and the Alpine chain with Mont Blanc. Access is easy by car, train or bus, which makes it a practical weekend hill. The cross border area links the French Tuffes massif with Swiss La Dole, the runs are mostly gentle, and families and novice snowboarders feel comfortable. Stronger skiers enjoy the ridge powder and the lines through the firs.
The state of the infrastructure draws criticism. Reviewers say barely anything has been invested in the lifts for two decades, several tows are worn out, and the area is set to shrink as old lifts come down and runs close. The pass price feels steep when only part of the terrain is open. People also complain of weak grooming, ice on the green runs, waits of over twenty minutes at the one working lift and cramped parking.
