Weather at Mount Hotham

Weather at Mount Hotham: a six-day forecast for three elevations of the mountain. Temperature, precipitation, wind and cloud cover from MET Norway. Updated several times a day.

What the weather at Mount Hotham is usually like

The ski area runs from 1,450 to 1,845 m above sea level - a 395 m vertical. In July the daytime average is 3 °C at the base and 1 °C at the summit. Plan for that 3 °C gap: what feels right at the base will be cold up top. Midwinter days at the base run above freezing, so the lower runs soften by midday and the morning snow lasts longer higher up.

Average daytime highs stay above freezing even at the summit all year, so the season here rests entirely on night frosts and snowmaking.

The season usually runs from 6 June to 4 October.

By July the base is around 3 °C while the summit still holds 1 °C: on days like that, start early and stay high. Based on monthly averages and the resort elevations. For the coming days, see the forecast above.
