Alexis Monney undergoes surgery for lunate fracture

Swiss alpine skier Alexis Monney was injured at the Swiss Championships. The 26-year-old athlete fell during the super-G and broke his arm.

Monney was diagnosed with a lunate fracture. He required surgery, which was successfully performed at the Hirslanden clinic in Zurich. For the next two months, the Swiss skier will wear a splint, but he is expected to recover in time to begin preparing for the upcoming winter season.

Last season, Monney finished on the World Cup podium twice. He took second place in the downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, then finished second in the super-G in Livigno. At the Olympic Games in Bormio, the Swiss skier posted the fifth-fastest time in the downhill.

In the 2024/25 season, Monney reached the podium five times in speed events. That season, he also won the downhill in Bormio - the first and so far only victory of his career.

At the World Championships in Saalbach in February last year, the athlete won bronze in the downhill and silver in the team combined.
