Good to know
Livigno offers pistes for all ability levels, with most rated intermediate. The lower sections run through wooded areas, while the upper slopes offer plenty of space above the treeline. The Mottolino side is known as the Mountain of Fun, with its first-class snowpark and extensive freeride terrain. The Carosello 3000 side offers plenty of space and entertainment for children in the lower section, including race-track play areas and tubing runs. The slopes lie on opposite sides of Livigno village and are not directly linked. The two sides are connected by ski bus or on foot.

Reviews describe Livigno as a resort of altitude, snow and duty-free shopping. The valley at 1,800 m holds snow longer than neighbouring resorts, while its duty-free status makes fuel, alcohol and equipment noticeably cheaper. Visitors praise the snowparks and the relaxed family-friendly atmosphere.
The main complaint is the journey: getting there takes a long time, mountain passes close in winter, and the remaining tunnel can have queues. Secondly, the ski area is split between two slopes on opposite sides of the valley, with a bus running between them. Thirdly, there are few difficult pistes.
