Snow earns the praise: the resort is high and cover here is usually better than at most of its Pyrenean neighbours. The terrain is varied with runs for every level and a good supply of off-piste nearby. There are few people about and hardly any ski school groups on the slopes. Reviewers also note the friendly family atmosphere and attentive ESF instructors, and the fact that all of it costs less than the Alps in an unspoilt natural setting.

The near-total absence of everyday amenities draws criticism: a couple of shops, one expensive supermarket, no cash machines, and a drive to Saint-Lary for anything more. Evening life is thin with few places open late, so anyone expecting a party after skiing will be bored. Access can be difficult in heavy snowfall and chains or winter tyres are advisable. For those wanting a full-service resort, the village feels too small.
