The Rittisberg sits on the high Ramsau plateau below the south wall of the Dachstein, its slopes facing south - which is why these meadows are called the sunniest in Austria. The area is small and geared to children: a play route with stone heads and a rock crystal cave is laid out up top, and since 2022/23 a combined lift of six-seat chairs and ten-seat cabins has served the hill. Ramsau itself is known above all for cross-country skiing: it hosted the 1999 World Championships and national teams still train here.

The praise is for what may be an ideal place to take first turns: wide, very gentle slopes that sit in the sun most of the day, and top marks for beginner-friendliness. Families like the unhurried pace and the children's facilities, and since the 2022/23 season the Rittisberg has run a modern combined lift mixing six-seat chairs with ten-seat cabins, luxury for an area this small. A toboggan run and the famous Ramsau cross-country trails next door add to the appeal.

The narrow offering draws criticism: the Rittisberg itself has runs of varying difficulty, but everything served by the other lifts is easy, and an experienced skier has little to do. The snow park rates poorly and apres-ski is essentially absent - evenings are quiet and anyone wanting nightlife heads to nearby Schladming. Test scores land mid-range: the consensus is a teaching and family hill rather than a full ski resort.
