The ski area rises from 750 to 1 800 m, with a vertical drop of 1 050 m. This vertical drop allows you to ski from top to bottom without changing lifts and noticeably changes the conditions during the descent. The season usually runs from 28 November to 9 April.

The praise is for the scale and the links: Alpendorf is the gateway to Snow Space Salzburg, and since the connection to Wagrain and Flachau opened, more than two hundred kilometres of piste are reachable from here. Snowmaking is near-total, grooming is good, the mountain restaurants serve generous and cheap food, and Salzburg airport is forty-five minutes away. For families and intermediates the conditions are called ideal.
The criticism is the lack of anything hard: strong skiers tire of the area quickly, and during the day ski school groups fill the runs. Alpendorf itself is not a village but a handful of hotels at the lift, and it is dead in the evening; for any life people go into St. Johann.
