Weather at Vail

Weather at Vail: a six-day forecast for three elevations of the mountain. Temperature, precipitation, wind and cloud cover from MET Norway. Updated several times a day.

What the weather at Vail is usually like

The ski area runs from 2,457 to 3,527 m above sea level - a 1,070 m vertical. In January the daytime average is 0 °C at the base and -7 °C at the summit. Plan for that 7 °C gap: what feels right at the base will be cold up top.

Average daytime highs at the summit stay below freezing from November through March.

Snowmaking covers 25% of the runs, so the start of the season barely depends on when natural snow arrives. The season usually runs from 13 November to 18 April.

By March the base is around 5 °C while the summit still holds -2 °C: on days like that, start early and stay high. Based on monthly averages and the resort elevations. For the coming days, see the forecast above.
