The area lies around Sesto in the easternmost corner of South Tyrol, and the view is the point: from the Stiergarten station you look at the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, three sheer towers and the most recognisable silhouette in the Dolomites. The Helm and Rotwand mountains were joined by gondola in 2014/15, having worked separately before. The valley is German-speaking; beyond the Kreuzberg pass the province of Belluno and Italian begin. You can come by train - the Ski Pustertal Express runs down the valley to Kronplatz, so both areas can be skied in a day.

Three Peaks is praised for its tranquillity: the same Dolomite beauty as in the better-known valleys, but with noticeably fewer people and lower prices. Visitors highlight the long run from Helm into Austria and the good piste grooming.

Complaints concern the size and connectivity: around ninety kilometres of pistes, with sectors not fully connected and a bus running between them. The area is enough for a confident skier for two or three days. Another frequent theme is that there is little to do in the villages in the evening.
