Ski resorts in Dolomites
The Dolomites lie in north-eastern Italy and are perhaps the continent's most recognisable mountains: their pale limestone walls turn pink at sunset, a phenomenon known as “enrosadira”. Formally part of the Alps, the Dolomites have long been an independent destination in their own right.
Twelve ski areas are covered by the Dolomiti Superski pass - more than 1,000 km of pistes on a single lift pass. The main resorts are Val Gardena, home to the classic Sellaronda around the Sella massif, Alta Badia with its wide, gentle slopes, and Kronplatz, where lifts reach the summit from three sides.
