Cortina is called the queen of the Dolomites for more than its scenery: it staged the Winter Olympics in 1956 and will do so again in 2026. The women's World Cup season opens on the Tofana each year, where the Forcella Rossa is among the most technical courses on the calendar. The area splits into several sectors that are not linked by lift - Tofana, Faloria with Cristallo, Lagazuoi with the Cinque Torri - and buses run between them. When the snow allows, a run drops from Lagazuoi through the Fanes valley into Alta Badia, with a horse-drawn tow along the flat section on the way back.
