What visitors say about the resort
The praise is for a mix rare in a small resort: steep fall-line descents and tree skiing that keep strong skiers busy, combined with an almost complete absence of lift lines. Prices are moderate, the snow is light and dry, and grooming gets called perfect. Instructors and staff earn warm words, and for apres-ski reviewers point to the Gunbarrel Saloon, whose food and decor they describe as quintessentially Canadian.
Scale is where the complaints start: by British Columbia standards the area is small, the lift count is low, and the terrain can feel used up after a few days. The upper mountain is exposed and snow gets scoured off the top, while total snowfall runs roughly two metres below the provincial average. The village is tiny, with very little choice of bars, shops or lodging, and reviews warn that anyone wanting resort nightlife should head to Whistler.
