Boí Taüll sits higher than anywhere else in the Pyrenees: its base station is at 2,035 m, which means no forest and snow that lasts longer than at its neighbours. The area adjoins Aigüestortes National Park, the only one in Catalonia, with its glacial lakes and granite cirques. Down in the Vall de Boí stand nine Romanesque churches of the eleventh and twelfth centuries with tower belfries - the whole ensemble is on the UNESCO list. It is quiet here, and the slopes are wide and mostly intermediate.

Altitude is what reviewers praise: the top station is the highest in the Spanish Pyrenees, and in seasons when neighbours had nothing, Boí Taüll had snow. On queues the verdict is unanimous - there are none even on busy days, and pistes never feel packed. Passes cost far less than in Andorra or Baqueira, lodging is affordable and staff are friendly. Strong skiers are pointed at the steep lines off the Falcó peak, called possibly the best in the range.
Access is the recurring complaint: getting there without a car is hard, especially from the Spanish side, and reviewers suggest flying to Toulouse or Pau and renting there. The area is far smaller than Andorra or Baqueira. Mountain food is called grim, and most people carry packed lunches. Wind comes up, as does rudeness from rental and bar staff. The Puig Falcó chairlift was also downgraded to a drag lift.
