Changchengling lies in the hills of Hebei province between 1,770 and 2,035 metres, and its name means "Great Wall pass" - the old wall runs along these ridges. The area is small: five lifts, six kilometres of runs, two thirds of them intermediate. The season holds from December to mid-March. Around it lies the same Chongli ski district as its better-known neighbours.

What visitors say about the resort
Price is the main draw: among the Chongli resorts this one is reckoned the cheapest, and a package of lodging plus skiing works out noticeably below the neighbours. Visitors value the heavy natural snowfall, the long season and the light winds on the ridge, plus the fact that it stays quiet enough to work on technique. The runs are called wide, which suits both learning and opening up, and the hotel sits inside the resort, so the slope starts at the door.
Simplicity is the complaint: the facilities are basic, the area is small, there are few runs, and an experienced skier soon runs out of things to do. The lift is described as smooth but slow. Service takes a beating too, with grumbles about the attitude of some staff and about the catering. There is little snowmaking, so the place depends on natural snowfall and shrinks in a weak winter. Its ratings are among the lowest in the region.
