What visitors say about the resort
The praise is for natural-snow pistes and the valley run: the drop down to Neustift tops a thousand metres, the surfaces are kept well groomed, and the gradients give experienced skiers something to do. It is markedly quieter than the Stubai glacier, so it is often recommended as an escape from the crowds. Beginners and children have enough easy and intermediate terrain, and three toboggan runs, one of them the valley's longest and floodlit, fill the evenings.
Size and dated lifts draw criticism. The area is small and the descents short, so a full day here runs thin - reviews say outright that the Elfer is a half-day mountain. Apart from the gondola, only drag lifts serve the slopes. The valley run, rated the main attraction, is reliable only in midwinter: it has no snow guns, and by March the missing snowmaking becomes obvious.
