Häkärinteet lies in central Finland, about an hour from Kuopio and three hours from Helsinki. The hill is very low, a little over eighty metres of vertical, with five lifts. The terrain still covers every level, and a third of the kilometres are graded difficult. The slopes are floodlit in the evening, and cross-country trails run around them.

Reviewers like the family setup: the children's area sits centrally on the hill, the learning slopes are gentle, instructors are good with small kids, and two resident reindeer keep them entertained. More experienced visitors point to the terrain park with its street line and the biggest wallride in Finland, plus an off-piste zone with drops and a mogul run. The rental desk, the cottages and the locally sourced lunches at the slopeside restaurant also get warm words.
Criticism goes to the lack of steep terrain: advanced skiers run out of options quickly, the vertical is modest and there are no long descents. Evenings are the other weak point - few places to go, no real apres-ski scene, and the nearest town some forty kilometres away, so without a car there is nothing to do. The centre is honestly billed as one for families and beginners rather than for thrill seekers.
