The SkiWelt is one of the largest connected areas in Austria, with nine ways in: Söll, Ellmau, Going, Scheffau, Brixen im Thale, Westendorf, Hopfgarten, Itter and Kelchsau. All of them sit down in the valley while the slopes converge on the ridge between the Wilder Kaiser and the Brixental Alps - hence the double name. The base is at only 620 m, so the area depends on one of the most powerful snowmaking systems in the Alps, covering virtually every piste. In winter the Hexenwasser operates above Söll, and a floodlit toboggan run with its own lift above Hopfgarten.

Visitors praise the scale and the lifts: SkiWelt is one of the largest linked areas in Austria, most of its equipment is new and fast, and even in high season queues are rarely long. Reviewers note the reasonable pass prices, the abundance of huts serving decent food, and the fact that a week is not enough to cover the whole area.

The complaints are about altitude: the villages sit at 600-800 metres, and in mild weather the valley runs turn slushy or close first. Snowmaking covers most of the pistes, but late in the season the slopes below mid-mountain are often described as poor. Regulars advise coming between mid-January and mid-February.
