Ski resorts in Alps
The Alps are Europe's main mountain system and the world's most concentrated ski region. This arc, about 1,200 km long, stretches from the Mediterranean to Vienna and spans France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and southern Germany. Elevations here allow skiing from December to April, and on glaciers almost year-round.
Ski areas are often covered by shared lift passes, and in terms of piste kilometres, Alpine resorts are impossible to compare with the rest of the world: Les 3 Vallées offers 600 km, Ischgl- more than 200, while Kitzbühel remains a model Austrian resort with a lively town at its foot.
