Jasná occupies both sides of Mount Chopok in the Low Tatras - the northern side facing the Demänovská valley, and the southern. They were joined by gondola only in 2012/13, after which the area became the largest in Slovakia. Chopok's summit stands at 2,024 m above the tree line and is almost always windy: the ridge lifts close more often than one would like. In compensation, the marked freeride zones in the cirques below the summit are among the best in Central Europe, and the Demänovská valley below holds its famous caves.

What visitors say about the resort

Reviews describe Jasná as Slovakia's best resort and Central Europe's most underrated: around fifty kilometres of pistes on both sides of Chopok, modern lifts and prices noticeably lower than in Austria. The freeride terrain in the northern cirques is highly praised.

The main complaint is the wind: Chopok is exposed on all sides, and the lift over the summit is often closed, splitting the ski area in two. The second issue is weekend queues, when visitors arrive from Bratislava and Poland. Some also complain that there are not enough pistes for a full week.
