Silverton Mountain is a ski resort in the Colorado region (United States). The notable share of difficult runs makes it appealing to confident skiers and freeriders.

The ski area rises from 3,170 to 4,111 m, with a vertical drop of 941 m. The vertical drop is enough for long runs with noticeable changes in terrain. The upper runs are at high altitude, so the snow lasts longer than on the nearby lower slopes. The season usually runs from 18 December to 28 March.

What visitors say about the resort
The praise is for its honesty: this is not a resort in the usual sense but a freeride zone with one old chairlift and no grooming at all, just chutes, bowls, cliff bands and natural trees. Most of the season is guided only, in groups of up to eight, and the guides earn more credit in reviews than the snow - patient, skilled at reading slopes, strict about safety. A beacon, shovel and probe are compulsory and rentable on site.
Price is the main criticism, with many saying that for a little more they would take cat skiing and get more runs in. The lift is slow and old, and reaching terrain from the top means hiking from five minutes to three quarters of an hour, so a day yields only three to six descents. The shuttles and the thinning of the trees also attract complaints, with saplings left in the main chutes. Beginners and solid intermediates have no business here.
