Vals is a ski resort in the Graubunden region (Switzerland). Most of the skiing is on intermediate runs - a profile that suits most skiers.

The ski area rises from 1,250 to 2,852 m, with a vertical drop of 1,602 m. This vertical drop allows you to ski from top to bottom without changing lifts and noticeably changes the conditions during the descent. The upper pistes are high, so the snow lasts longer than on the neighbouring lower slopes. The season usually runs from 19 December to 29 March.

What visitors say about the resort
The praise is for value: Vals has repeatedly been called the best-value ski area in Switzerland, with a day pass around 39 francs, free skiing for under-sixteens and a free gondola from the village up to Gadastatt. Independent testing rates snow reliability and slope preparation as its strongest points. The top reaches close to three thousand metres, the vertical is over one and a half kilometres, and untracked fields survive after a storm.
The lifts draw the criticism. The three main ones are all drags, and the upper one climbs a pitch no beginner should be on: fall off and you end up well away from the piste with a long walk back up. Linking the tows is described as a real nuisance, above all the awkward descent from Faltschona to the bottom of the Dachberg drag. The area is small and the piste variety limited. Apres-ski is an umbrella bar at Gadastatt and a few sun terraces, no more.
