Zauchensee is the highest ski resort in Salzburg Sportwelt. In the Zauchensee / Flachauwinkl winter sports area, winter sports enthusiasts are spoilt for choice. Skiers can enjoy everything from challenging World Cup pistes and beautiful freeride routes to gentle runs and rustic mountain huts. The atmosphere is relaxed: the modern Highliner I and Highliner II lifts take guests from Flachauwinkl in just a few minutes, without traffic, directly from the A10 Tauern motorway to the middle of the Zauchensee / Flachauwinkl ski resort.
Worth knowing
Skiers looking for enjoyable cruising will be particularly impressed by the many blue and red pistes on Rosskopf and Gamskogel. Those seeking a challenge will find it on the black pistes, on some short steep slopes and on the cross-country trails. At the Kogelalm ski school centre, you can advance your skiing career by registering individually or as part of a group. The viewpoint at the start of the women's World Cup piste on Gamskogel is highly recommended and can be reached by the Weltcupexpress funicular.

There are valley runs from the slopes. Both access points to the ski resort, in Flachauwinkl and Zauchensee, can be reached on blue and red pistes.
Longest runs
The longest run here is Roßkopf-Flachauwinkl, 6.8 km long with a vertical drop of 930 m. A blue run from Rosskopf to the Highliner base station in Flachauwinkl.
Hochalmrinne. Length: 4.5 km. Vertical drop: 570 m. The blue Hochalmrinne run starts at the highest point of Rosskopf and leads down to the valley and the Weltcuparena Zauchensee.
Gamskogel-Ost run. Length: 4.5 km. Vertical drop: 720 m. The Gamskogel-Ost run starts at the mountain station of the Schwarzwand lift and ends at the Weltcuparena Zauchensee.
Hardest run
The most challenging run is Tauernkar, 1.5 km long with a vertical drop of 500 m. The longest black run in the ski resort leads down beneath the Tauernkar lift and includes several challenging steep sections.

Almost all slopes in Zauchensee / Flachauwinkl are served by modern weather-protected chairlifts or gondolas. There are only a few older chairlifts and surface lifts, but you do not need to use them to access the entire ski resort. Zauchensee has two short surface lifts and facilities for beginners.
Getting there
Zauchensee / Flachauwinkl can be reached from Salzburg International Airport in 50 minutes; the distance is 70 km. The most convenient option is to hire a car. Here you can hire a car at Salzburg Airport with a discount of up to 70%.
