Zugspitze

The Zugspitze ski resort is located in Zugspitzland (Germany, Bavaria, Upper Bavaria (Oberbayern), Zugspitz region). It offers 17 km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding. 8 lifts transport guests. The winter sports area is located between 2,000 and 2,720 m.

Zugspitze is Germany's highest mountain, at almost 3,000 m. The ski resort is located on Schneeferner, Germany's largest glacier. Its high altitude guarantees reliable snow for almost 7 months of the year, as well as spectacular views above the clouds. The winter sports resort can be accessed from Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Grainau, which are located in the valley. In addition, cable lifts ascend from Eibsee in Grainau and from Ehrwald. Alongside carefully groomed natural-snow slopes for skiing and snowboarding amid high-alpine landscapes of rock and ice, the ski resort offers powder runs for freeriding, as well as toboggan runs.

The ascent to Zugspitze from Germany is either by cog railway to the Zugspitzplatt ski resort (75 minutes from the main railway station in Garmisch) or by aerial cableway from Lake Eibsee to the summit. From the summit, you take the Gletscher lift approximately 200 m downhill. You can also reach the summit quickly and conveniently from Ehrwald in Austria on the Tiroler Zugspitz lift. The ski resort has modern six-person weather-protected chairlifts, as well as drag lifts. In the evenings, you sometimes have to wait, as everyone must descend back to the base by lift.
