Aflenzer Bürgeralm is a ski resort in the Styria region (Austria). Most of the skiing is on intermediate runs - a profile that suits most skiers.

The ski area rises from 765 to 1,810 m, with a vertical drop of 1,045 m. This vertical drop allows you to ski from top to bottom without changing lifts and creates noticeably different conditions throughout the descent. The season usually runs from 12 December to 8 March.

What visitors say about the resort
The praise is for intimacy and old-fashioned charm. The Buergeralm was an insider tip for families and for anyone wanting a manageable hill without the bustle: visitor numbers stayed low, queues did not form, and a vintage two-seater chairlift carried you up, remembered fondly in reviews. It was one of the few Styrian areas living on natural snow, and skiers said the cover up top held well.
How it ended is what draws criticism. The area had been on the brink for years, and since the 2025/26 winter the lifts have not run at all: the municipality rejected the former operator's offer to lease the slope for a symbolic one euro, judging the risk too high. No new operator has been found, and the mountain is open only for touring, snowshoeing and tobogganing. Older complaints centred on the hut: dirty glassware and unfriendly staff.
