Lachtal is a small family-friendly ski resort, but it is one of the largest ski resorts in Styria. It is known for its excellent slope quality and terrain that is ideal for the youngest skiers in the Kinderlachtal children's area. Ambitious skiers will find a good choice of intermediate and advanced pistes. Those looking for adventure can enjoy two attractive ski runs in the winter sports area. In addition to all the sporting opportunities offered here, Lachtal is also homely and welcoming: all the ski huts at Lachtal ski resort are full-service restaurants with large sunny terraces.

Good to know

Easy and intermediate pistes predominate in this beautiful area of Lachtal. Wide, sunny slopes make for very pleasant skiing. There are marked ski runs and the black Haltersteig and Lerchschuss pistes for experienced skiers. This is the home ski resort of world champion Niki Schmidhofer.

There is a descent to the valley from the slopes. Skiers return to the valley on various easy and intermediate pistes. This allows everyone to get back to their accommodation, car park or ski bus either comfortably or with a little sporting effort.

Longest run

The longest run here is the Murmerlhang Panorama Run Nici Hang, 3 km long, with a vertical drop of 622 m. From the Zinken lift's top station, you ski down various red pistes, past the Lachtal chairlift's top station, all the way to the valley. You get a good view from the upper section, while the lower section leads through small areas of forest.

Most difficult run

The most difficult run is Haltersteig, 1 km long, with a vertical drop of 293 m. The black Haltersteig piste runs alongside the Zinken lift. The upper section is particularly steep, but comfortably wide.

Skiline

The modern Lachtal and Schönberg-Schaukel chairlifts provide access to most of the ski resort's slopes. Both are six-seater chairlifts with weather protection. Styria's highest tow lift is also located in Lachtal. The Zinken lift reaches an altitude of 2,222 m above sea level. The long Dietrichalm, Schönberg and Hebert 2 tow lifts also lead to beautiful slopes. Training lifts are located next to the Lachtal base station. The Kinder-Lachtal children's area has a magic carpet and a rope tow. The Hebert 1 platter lift also starts at the Lachtal base station.
