What visitors say about the resort
Praise goes first of all to the location: Stuhleck is the quickest serious ski hill to reach from Vienna, so families, groups of friends and older skiers all use it as a day trip, and the terrain is gentle enough to suit nearly everybody. That combination of proximity to the capital and undemanding skiing is what reviewers name as the reason to come.
Overcrowding is what the resort is criticised for. At weekends coachloads of day visitors arrive, including from Slovakia, lift pass sales are not capped, and visitors report 45 minutes and more in the queues, with the worst accounts describing two and a half hours spent simply getting up the mountain. The lift layout is called badly planned and the mid station useless. The day pass is considered poor value for the handful of chairlifts on offer, and the pistes are bumped out by the middle of the day.
