Alagna Valsesia/Gressoney-La-Trinité/Champoluc/Frachey (Monterosa Ski)

The large Monte Rosa ski area stretches from Alagna in the Piedmont region, across the Salati Pass and Punta Indren (3260 m), all the way to the Val di Gressoney valley with the villages of Stafal (Tschaval) and Gressoney-La-Trinité. Val d'Ayas, including the villages of Frachey and Saint-Jacques, is also linked to the ski area via Colle Bettaforca. The region is renowned for its excellent off-piste and heli-skiing opportunities.

Worth knowing

The slopes score highly for their varied terrain, which is generally generous in width and offers diverse profiles. Because the slopes face in different directions, you can find sunny slopes throughout the day. The off-piste terrain is first-class and ideal for freeriders. Challenging slopes are limited, and there are no safe ski runs. Good skiers without off-piste equipment and experience are therefore at a disadvantage.

The Wold lifts in Alagna are approximately one kilometre from the rest of the ski resort.

655 snow cannons cover 95% of the slopes.

Longest run

The longest run here is Olen-Alagna, 8 km long, with a vertical drop of 1768 m.

Most difficult run

The most difficult run is Nera, 0.5 km long, with a vertical drop of 200 m.

Three runs are sometimes closed to the public for training: Jolanda 1, Del Monte and Mullero

Travel between the valleys is possible almost exclusively via high-speed detachable chairlifts and gondolas. Only the connections from Saint-Jacques and Gressoney-La-Trinité to the rest of the area use fixed-grip chairlifts. The feeder lift from Saint-Jacques was built in 1983.

The distance from Turin Airport is 110 km, with a journey time of 1 h 35 min; from Milan Malpensa Airport, it is 170 km, with a journey time of 2 h 10 min.
