What visitors say about the resort
What visitors praise is the calm and the reliability: unlike neighbouring Alagna, where wind regularly shuts the link to Gressoney, a day here is rarely blown away. The runs, mostly red and blue, are called enjoyable and uncrowded, and grooming improved noticeably after the change of operator. People also single out the view of Monte Rosa and the fact that there is no car traffic up top - the hamlet is pedestrian only.
The ride up is what draws fire. The chairlift from Scopello is an old two-seater, about twenty five minutes with no shelter from wind or snow, and reviews keep voicing the hope that it will finally be replaced. The alternative is no better: you leave the car halfway and walk several kilometres up the shaded side, and the 15 euro daily parking strikes many as steep. Snow is the other grumble - few guns, slopes that ice up quickly, and lifts that are not always all running.
