Snowmass is the largest of Aspen's four mountains and, unlike the others, has its own village at the base with gondolas rising straight out of it. The top point, the Cirque at 3,813 m, is not a piste at all but an open chute in a rock amphitheatre. Gentle terrain exists only down in the valley; the higher you go the harder it gets, with intermediate and black runs dropping from every summit station. The pass covers Aspen Mountain, Highlands and Buttermilk too, linked by a free shuttle.
