Ski resorts in Elk Mountains
Elk Range in Colorado is best known for Aspen: four mountains around the former mining town operate on one lift pass, but each has its own character. The elevations are serious - upper stations approach 4,000 m.
Snowmass- the largest mountain in the group, with a vertical drop of over 1300 m. Aspen Highlands is known for its steep terrain and the famous Highland Bowl, which requires hiking part of the way. Separate from Aspen is Crested Butte- a resort with a reputation as one of the most extreme in the country.
