Big Sky Resort spans four mountains, offering seamless skiing for families and friends of different abilities across a vast network of interconnected terrain. Highlights include the sought-after tram, reached via the slopes of Lone Peak at 11,166 feet, and a 4,350-foot vertical drop. Here, acreage trumps skier density, with two acres per skier and 400 inches of consistent, reliable snow, with the least year-to-year variation in snowfall.

What visitors say about the resort
Big Sky is praised for its spaciousness: with more than 2,500 hectares per person, it has fewer crowds than almost anywhere in the United States, and queues are virtually nonexistent. Visitors highlight the 1,300 m vertical drop and the ride up Lone Peak, which provides access to extreme terrain.
The main complaints concern the price and the weather: the lift pass is expensive, while Montana is cold in winter and reports of freezing temperatures are common. Another issue is the resort's remoteness: Bozeman is an hour away, and there is very little nightlife at the resort. Visitors also complain about wind at the top, which can close the tram to Lone Peak.
