What visitors say about the resort
The praise is for the snow: Big Cottonwood Canyon is one of the snowiest corners of North America, collecting hundreds of inches of dry, light powder each winter. The trees are its signature, with well-spaced glades at every ability level. Beginners like that the green runs go top to bottom. There are several terrain parks, a large lit night-skiing operation and free tickets for children under ten.
Crowding is the main target of criticism: since joining the Ikon pass a physically small area has absorbed destination-resort traffic. Lines at the Crest and Majestic lifts near the base are called absurd, and even replacing Crest with a high-speed six-pack did little to shorten them. The parking reservation system provokes the most anger, with pass holders reporting they cannot get up the canyon.
