1 / 20Deer Valley Resort revolutionized skiing as North America's first resort to offer five-star hotel service.
Trail information
Deer Valley is one of three resorts in the United States that still bar snowboarders - a rule in force since it opened in 1981 and not up for revision. It was built around service rather than vertical: attendants take your skis at the car, the grooming is immaculate, and the number of day passes sold is capped to keep the lift lines short. It stands immediately next to Park City, forty-five minutes from Salt Lake City. An expansion has been under way since 2024/25, with the new East Village and gondola nearly doubling the area.

What visitors say about the resort
The praise starts with grooming - many call Deer Valley's the best in the United States. Service scores highly too: heated walkways, ski valets, slopeside dining and attentive staff. Another draw is the snowboard ban, which for part of the clientele is the main reason to choose this resort over its neighbours.
The complaints begin with price: a day pass runs past three hundred dollars, which makes reports of bumped-up runs and neglected intermediate terrain sting all the more. Strong skiers often find the mountain limited: there is not much genuinely steep or wild terrain here.
