What visitors say about the resort
The praise is for the quiet and the setting: the village sits by its lake at around 1,470 metres under the Mont Blanc massif. Reviewers admit openly that there are few runs, then add that you never wait for a lift. The black piste gets singled out, as does the legendary Val d'Arpette itinerary that off-piste skiers travel here for. The floodlit beginner tow by the lake is a favourite with families and the ski school.
What draws criticism is how far the alpine skiing has shrunk. The Breya chairlifts do not appear as regular lifts in the resort's winter timetable; what runs is the tow by the lake plus the Revers tow, and outside school holidays the latter opens only at weekends and on Wednesday afternoons. The Petite Breya tow has been closed until further notice after a rockfall. A fire at the top station of Breya I in September 2012 once left only the lower domain for a season.
