What visitors say about the resort

Reviewers call this the friendliest sector in the Chamonix valley for beginners and confident intermediates: the Le Tour side has the wide nursery fields of La Vormaine, gentle blues and dedicated ski school zones. The Vallorcine side offers hushed skiing through fir forest near the Swiss border, while the upper slopes look out over the whole valley. Freeriders rate the back of Le Tour, where untracked snow survives several days after a storm.

Lifts attract most of the complaints: there are noticeably more drag lifts here than elsewhere in the valley, and although the Autannes and Tete de Balme chairs bypass some, beginners still spend a lot of time on tows. The other gripe is distance - this is the furthest ski area from Chamonix town, twenty minutes away by car or free bus.
