Alta Badia

The Alta Badia ski resort is located in Alta Badia (Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige (South Tyrol), South Tyrol). It offers 130 km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding, served by 53 lifts.

The Alta Badia ski resort lies in the heart of the South Tyrolean Dolomites. It stretches from Grödnerjoch to Colfosco, Corvara, La Villa, Badia and San Cassiano, as far as Passo Campolongo. The Alta Badia winter sports area offers perfectly groomed pistes and forms part of the famous Sella Ronda. With a Dolomiti Superski pass, you can ski 500 km of connected slopes surrounding the Sella massif (Sella Ronda: Alta Badia, Arabba, Fassa Valley and Val Gardena). There are slopes for every ability level. Experienced skiers tackle Gran Risa, while beginners practise their turns on the gentle slopes between Piz Sorega and Monte Cherz. The Alta Badia ski resort places great emphasis on cuisine. Gourmet chefs create unusual dishes from high-quality local ingredients in numerous mountain huts throughout the resort.

Good to know

Most of the slopes at the resort are easy or intermediate. There are many easy runs on the open pistes between La Brancia, Pralongia and Cherz. The challenging Gran Risa piste, which hosts an annual World Cup race, leads to La Villa. The runs in San Cassiano, La Villa and Corvara pass through forest clearings in their lower sections. The pistes at Piz Sorega, Pralongia, Sponata and Santa Croce should definitely not be missed. This unique landscape is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sella Ronda also passes through Alta Badia. This unique tour around the Sella massif provides a direct link to the ski areas of Gröden / Val Gardena, Fassa Valley and Arabba / Marmolada.

There are 391 snow cannons, with the capacity to produce artificial snow on 80% of the slopes.

There is a descent from the slopes into the valley. Valley runs lead to all the villages of the Alta Badia ski resort.

Longest slope

The longest descent here is Lagazuoi - San Cassiano-Saré, measuring 7.2 km with a vertical drop of 1055 m.

Most difficult slope

The most challenging run is Gran Risa, measuring 2.5 km with a vertical drop of 644 m. The famous World Cup piste in La Villa is a must for every skier.

Resort routes

Sella Ronda is a sightseeing tour around the Sella massif. On this 5-6-hour tour, you pass through the ski areas of Gröden, Arabba / Marmolada and Fassa Valley. Sella Ronda is available in two directions: the higher and more athletic orange clockwise route, and the green counter-clockwise route.

Gebirgsjägertour (Mountain Hunters' Tour) follows the traces of the First World War on the route from Corvara to Arabba and Marmolada.

The Heilig Kreuz gourmet ski tour is one of the most popular culinary ski tours in Alta Badia.

The Lagazuoi route from Alta Badia to Passo Falzarego and back is a journey through the history of the Dolomites.

You can experience a magnificent ski run in a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the Lagazuoi tour. You must travel to Armentarola and then continue to Passo Falzarego. A cable car takes you to the start of the run. You can return to the starting point by eco-friendly taxi - skiers travel from Capanna Alpina hut to Armentarola by horse.

Alta Badia has relatively modern chairlifts and gondolas. From La Villa, San Cassiano, Corvara and Colfosco, gondolas take guests up to the ski resort. The resort mainly has chairlifts, including both detachable high-speed and fixed-grip slow chairlifts.
